Twitch (Lucious Stiven)

Twitch is the younger brother to Core.  Never destined for the great destiny or even great size of his older brother, Lucious was a thin, beady eyed man with a gift for understanding people, politics, and the common fighting man.  His insight was astonishing.  Lucious was able to advise his father in matters of statecraft equally as well as he was able to advise Core in a course of military action.

Left to his own devices, Lucious was one of the most gifted gunsmiths in all of Keldj.  While not initially good at the craft, his family resources and connections gave him access to the best teachers and supplies.  Nearly all leisure time granted to him when not attending to his duties was used to practice his craft.  In a land where blunt, heavy weapons are the favorite of Keldj’s Marauders, Lucious was all the more appreciated for his gift in weeding out opposing forces prior to his men entering combat.

One very famous attack on Keldj by an ancient elven undead army led by a powerful mage of the Legion resulted in the full force of the Marauders being called to arms.  Core and Lucious fought side by side for a time.  The attack was massive.  A full retreat had been sounded when the two brothers became separated.  Lucious could not be found.  Core went berserk, destroying countless undead monsters, some multiple times in a frantic search for his brother, to no avail.  Lucious had been lost to the horde.

Several days later, Lucious stumbled into view of the search parties that had relentlessly searched for him at Core and the Governor’s command.  Beaten, torn, and bloody his hands clenched two pistols.  His eyes were no longer calm.  The even, rational man had been replaced by a creature of survival.  He had been witness to unspeakable temptation and had survived due to sheer willpower.  For almost a week he traveled, killing and rekilling the things that attacked him.  Taking one weapon from each dead body he encountered he somehow managed to cut a swath of death through the woods which brought him home again.

Since that time Lucious no longer sleeps through the night.  He rarely eats and when he does his meals are more thick ale than they are meat and vegetables.  He jumps at noises no one else hears, responds to those around him as though they were already dead, and frequently goes days or weeks without speaking at all.  When brought to combat, Twitch sees enemies before they are there (and is often right) and carries somewhere between 10-20 different firearms on him at any time.  He swears often, sits too close to the campfire, and occasionally beats new recruits to the Marauders without reason or cause.

No one questions him.  No one asks him why.  No one under his command ever fails to come home to their families at night.

Core has declared him a hero.  His father has stated that something Holy walks with his youngest son.

No one questions these things.  No one asks them why.  Lucious is proof enough that despite all things, some God out there still exists.

For now, it’s good enough.
